What is Jabber?

Jabber@UWW is an Instant Messaging ("chat") service available to all UW-W faculty, staff, and students. The service aims to facilitate more immediate, short and informal communication among UWW users.

  • Instructors are welcome to use this service for their courses. Possible uses are: virtual office hours, online group meetings and class conferencing.
  • Administrative offices can use Jabber to facilitate inter-office and interdepartmental communication.

In addition, Jabber@UWW allows you to chat with users on third-party services such as AIM, MSN/Windows Live, Yahoo! and GTalk for university, or personal purposes.

Monthly Maintenance

First Friday of every month between 5:00am and 7:00am.

Users may not be able to access the system during this time.

The next maintenance window will be on Friday, August 7th, 2009.
